Hospital Early Liaison
Provision (H.E.L.P)
Headway H.E.L.P is a service provided by Headway Cambridge & Peterborough, working with the NHS to offer specialist advice and support for people affected by brain injury.
In the early stages it’s often hard to know what to expect or where to find support. Our Headway HELP Advisors are based at Addenbrooke’s Hospital to guide patients and families through both the acute and later stages of rehabilitation and returning home.
Understanding Brain Injury

Providing patients and families with a clear understanding of brain injury, alongside specialist advice and guidance for managing its effects.
Emotional Support

Offering compassionate support to help
patients and those who care for them manage
the sudden, emotional challenges of brain injury.
Legal Guidance & Signposting

For patients considering a personal injury claim, or loved ones needing advice on health and financial decision making, we can offer guidance and signposting to appropriate legal support.
Emergency Funding & Financial Support

Where families experience financial pressures related to a hospital stay, we can provide support to identify and apply for emergency funding to assist with things like accommodation, parking, and travel costs.
Benefits Guidance & Signposting

If a brain injury impacts a patient’s ability to work, or a family member steps into a caring role, we can offer guidance on welfare benefits, Carer’s Allowance and appropriate employment support.
Discharge & Community Support

Offering specialist support to help coordinate health, social care, and community services, and to connect patients with local Headway groups, to provide a smooth and supported transition from hospital to home.
